Energy market participants are businesses that trade on the wholesale market for electricity, natural gas, and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
REMIT obligations for market participants to the wholesale energy markets
Energy market participants must register, and share information that is relevant to the market. It also prohibits market abuses.
Registration as an energy market participant
If you wish to trade on the European energy market, you will need to register first, and keep your registration up-to-date.
Reporting energy transactions to ACER
If you are an energy market participant, you need to report all of your transactions and orders-to-trade to ACER, the European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators.
Inside information on the energy market
Energy market participants must publish inside information as quickly as possible, and they cannot use inside information for trading.
Notifying algorithmic trading and effective systems
If you as a market participant use algorithms, you will need to notify ACM thereof.
Reporting suspicious energy trading
Energy traders must do their best to track down and report suspicious trading.
Dealing with erroneous orders
As an energy market participant, you need to cancel or reverse any incorrect trading orders, and you must publish the error.
